Ready to give your games and consoles a new home? IFX Retro Games purchases used video games, consoles, controllers, accessories, and related merchandise from individuals throughout the United States. This page explains how our selling process works, how offers are determined, and what you can expect after sending us your items. By submitting a sell request or shipping items to IFX Retro Games, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.
How the Process Works
1. Tell Us What You Have
Send us an email with a list of your items. Include the model, region, condition, included components, and any known damage, defects, modifications, repairs, missing parts, or account locks. We may request photographs, serial numbers, or additional information before providing a quote.
2. Receive a Preliminary Quote
If we are interested in purchasing your items, we will provide a preliminary quote based on the information you submitted. A preliminary quote is not a final purchase price. All items are subject to receipt, inspection, authentication, and testing before a final offer is confirmed.
3. Ship Your Items
Follow the shipping instructions included with your quote. Every package must include the assigned IFX trade-in number or packing slip so that we can identify the shipment. The quote or shipping instructions will state whether IFX provides a shipping label and whether any shipping cost will be deducted from the payment. Do not include passwords, banking information, identification documents, or other sensitive information inside the package.
4. Inspection and Testing
After delivery, we will compare the shipment with the submitted list and inspect the items for identity, authenticity, completeness, cosmetic condition, functionality, modifications, damage, and other factors affecting value. Consoles, games, controllers, and accessories may be opened or tested as reasonably necessary to evaluate them. We generally complete inspections within five business days after delivery, although unusually large shipments, uncommon hardware, complex testing, holidays, or high-volume periods may require additional time.
5. Final Offer
If the items match the description and assumptions used for the preliminary quote, we may approve the quoted amount without requiring additional confirmation. If the contents or condition differ materially from what was submitted, we may issue a revised offer. We will explain the significant reason for a reduction, such as missing components, undisclosed damage, incorrect model or region, nonfunctional hardware, counterfeit merchandise, or a difference in quantity. We will not complete a sale at a reduced price unless the seller accepts the revised offer.
6. Payment
Once the final offer is approved, payment is generally issued within two business days using the payment method selected by the seller from the options then available. Available methods may include electronic payment, mailed check, or IFX Retro Games store credit. Payment accounts and checks must be issued to the seller identified in the transaction. We may require additional verification before changing a payment recipient or destination. Processing times imposed by banks, mail carriers, or payment providers are outside our control. Once the final offer has been accepted and payment or store credit has been issued, the sale is final and ownership of the purchased merchandise transfers to InternalFX, Inc. d/b/a IFX Retro Games.
Quote Terms
Quote Validity
Unless a different period is stated in writing, a preliminary quote remains valid if the package is accepted and scanned by the carrier within seven calendar days after the quote is issued. If a shipment is sent after the quote expires, we may reevaluate it using current purchase values. We will obtain the seller's approval before completing a transaction at a reduced price.
Quote Assumptions
Quoted values apply only to the items, versions, quantities, and included components identified in the quote. Values may differ depending on whether a game or system is loose, complete, boxed, or missing original components. Sending additional items does not guarantee additional payment.
Market and Inventory Changes
Purchase values can change because of market conditions, inventory levels, demand, product revisions, and other business considerations. A timely shipped quote will not be reduced merely because our public purchase price later changes, provided the submitted information was accurate and the items arrive in the expected condition.
Item Eligibility and Condition
Eligible Sellers
Sellers must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into the transaction. We currently purchase only from sellers with a valid address in the 50 United States.
Ownership
The seller represents and warrants that:
- The seller owns every item submitted or is legally authorized by the owner to sell it.
- The merchandise is free of liens, financing interests, rental obligations, and other claims.
- The merchandise is not stolen, lost, counterfeit, or otherwise unlawfully possessed.
- The information provided to IFX Retro Games is accurate and complete.
We may decline, hold, report, or surrender merchandise when reasonably required by law or law enforcement. Acceptance of a shipment does not waive our rights concerning fraud, misrepresentation, unlawful ownership, or counterfeit merchandise.
Region and Version
Regional and hardware variations can have substantially different values. Sellers must accurately disclose whether an item is a North American, Japanese, PAL, or other regional version. Model numbers, hardware revisions, special editions, replacement shells, modifications, and reproductions must also be disclosed. We may purchase imported merchandise when it is accurately identified and included in the quote.
Games and Packaging
Game values may be quoted as cartridge or disc only, game with original case, or complete with original case, manual, inserts, and other materials. Missing or replacement packaging may reduce the final offer when the quote assumed a complete copy. Discs and cartridges must be authentic unless we specifically agree in writing to evaluate another type of item. Reproduction cartridges, counterfeit discs, copied media, unauthorized multicarts, fake cases or cover art, and counterfeit manuals must be disclosed and ordinarily have no purchase value.
Consoles, Controllers, and Accessories
Unless otherwise stated in the quote, hardware is expected to be complete enough for its intended use and free from severe damage. Value may be reduced for conditions including: - Failure to power on, read games, produce audio or video, connect to a network, charge, or accept controller input - Missing, damaged, altered, or unreadable serial-number labels - Cracks, broken ports, corrosion, liquid damage, pest contamination, heavy smoke odor, biological contamination, or excessive dirt - Missing screws, shields, covers, doors, feet, buttons, internal parts, or other components - Undisclosed modifications, replacement shells, repairs, tampering, or failed repair attempts - Activation locks, parental controls, passcodes, account restrictions, or console bans - Missing controllers, cables, power supplies, adapters, docks, storage devices, or accessories assumed by the quote.
Ordinary cosmetic wear consistent with the age of an item does not automatically disqualify it.
Salvageable and Nonworking Items
We may make a reduced offer for nonworking or damaged merchandise when usable parts can be recovered. Salvage value is not guaranteed, and a reduced salvage offer requires the seller's approval. IFX Retro Games reserves the right to decline any item or transaction for condition, authenticity, safety, inventory, demand, legal, operational, or other legitimate business reasons.
Revised Offers, Declined Items, and Returns
Responding to a Revised Offer The seller must accept or decline a revised offer within seven calendar days after it is sent. We may send reminders using the contact information provided with the transaction. If the seller accepts, we will issue payment for the approved amount. If the seller declines, the affected items will remain the seller's property and may be returned according to the return-shipping terms below.
Return Shipping
Unless IFX made an error or agreed otherwise in writing, the seller is responsible for the cost of returning items after declining a final offer. We may provide a tracked return label and request payment of its disclosed cost before shipment. Return shipments will be sent only to the seller's verified address unless we approve another destination.
Items With No Purchase Value
When an item has no purchase or salvage value, the seller may authorize IFX Retro Games to recycle or dispose of it or request its return at the seller's expense. We will not intentionally dispose of declined merchandise without authorization, except where it has been abandoned under this policy, presents an immediate health or safety hazard, or must be surrendered or handled differently under applicable law.
Unresponsive Sellers and Unclaimed Items
If we send a revised offer or request return instructions and do not receive a response within seven calendar days, the revised offer will expire and no sale will be completed. We will send a final notice using the email address and mailing address provided with the transaction. The seller will have 30 calendar days after that final notice to provide instructions and, when applicable, pay the previously disclosed return-shipping charge.
Until a final offer is accepted and payment or store credit is issued, ownership remains with the seller. If the seller does not respond within the final-notice period, IFX Retro Games may, to the extent permitted by law, return the items to the seller’s verified address, continue to store them, or sell, recycle, or otherwise dispose of them for the seller’s account. IFX may deduct reasonable, documented costs of return, storage, sale, or disposition. Any remaining net proceeds will remain payable to the seller and may be reported or delivered under applicable unclaimed-property law.
Items may be recycled or disposed of when they have no commercially reasonable resale or salvage value, when reasonable handling and disposition costs equal or exceed their value, when they present a health or safety hazard, or when applicable law requires different handling. Failure to respond does not, by itself, transfer ownership to IFX Retro Games.
Shipping Requirements and Risk
The seller is responsible for packing merchandise securely and following all carrier rules. Use a sturdy box, adequate cushioning, and additional protection around consoles, discs, cartridges, controllers, and fragile components. Loose items should not be allowed to move freely inside the package.
Unless otherwise stated in writing:
- The seller bears the risk of loss or damage until the package is delivered to and received by IFX Retro Games.
- Providing a shipping label does not make IFX responsible for inadequate packaging.
- IFX is not responsible for items that were not listed, identified, or reasonably secured inside the shipment.
- Shipping damage may affect the final value if the merchandise was inadequately packed.
- Sellers should retain the tracking number and photographs of valuable shipments and their packaging.
Do not ship leaking batteries, swollen lithium batteries, hazardous materials, severely contaminated merchandise, or any item prohibited by the carrier. Contact us for instructions if you are uncertain whether an item can be shipped safely.
Accounts and Personal Data
Before shipping a console or storage device, the seller should back up any information they wish to keep, remove personal accounts, disable activation or device-tracking features, remove passcodes and parental controls, and perform an appropriate factory reset when possible. By submitting a device, the seller authorizes IFX Retro Games to access the device as reasonably necessary for testing and to erase, reset, reformat, repair, replace, or remove its storage. IFX Retro Games is not responsible for preserving or recovering accounts, saved games, photographs, messages, payment information, software, downloads, or other data remaining on submitted merchandise. Remove any memory card, external drive, game, disc, cartridge, SIM card, or other media that is not included in the quote.
Store Credit
When offered, store credit may have a different value from the cash offer. Any bonus amount will be disclosed before the seller makes a selection. Store credit is issued for use at ifxretrogames.com and is not redeemable for cash except where required by law. Additional terms disclosed when the credit is issued may apply.
Taxes and Payment Reporting
Sellers are responsible for determining and satisfying any tax obligations resulting from a transaction. A payment provider may request identifying or tax information or issue tax documentation when required by law. IFX Retro Games cannot provide individual tax advice.
Fraud and Misrepresentation
IFX Retro Games reserves all rights and remedies when a seller submits stolen merchandise, counterfeit goods, materially misrepresents an item, falsifies an identity, submits a fraudulent shipment, or receives a duplicate or erroneous payment. Completed transactions obtained through fraud or unlawful conduct are not protected by the final-sale provision of this policy.
Privacy
Information collected through the selling process is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may retain transaction records, communications, photographs, serial numbers, shipping information, payment confirmations, and ownership certifications for fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance, and business records. Please do not send a copy of your driver's license or other identification unless IFX Retro Games specifically requests it through an approved secure process.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect when a seller accepts a preliminary quote will ordinarily govern that transaction, unless a change is required by law or the parties agree otherwise in writing.
